3 Reasons to buy the GoPro Hero HD

Yes, okay, I get it. Another camera? Yes, another camera. But the GoPro? Cristina you don't even do extreme sports or something exciting worth the money for you to get a GoPro. You know nothing Jon Snow I know. Just kidding, I know you guys wouldn't say such thing. But yes, A GoPro. The reason why I bought it is rather funny but so far I've been discovering and I don't know how I did not buy this before my ERASMUS experience.

Anyway, I live in Mallorca which is a beautiful island in Spain. I've always wanted a waterproof camera to take cool pictures with my friends, and lately I've been spending a lot of family time after studying and working so I thought I could use one. One of my brothers has one and I asked him to let me use it, but his response was blunt: "No. If you want one, get one", said probably thinking I would not have the money or guts to actually buy it.
Little did he know I went on Amazon and it was on offer and two days later it arrived peacefully at home...

So I got this wonderful GoPro for 121€ including shipping costs, which sounds like a bargain to me. Then I got myself a MicroSD for the GoPro of 16GB (max 32GB, other GoPros 64GB) for like 10€. You may wonder why is it so cheap? I think it normally costs 150€ and I'll explain you the difference with the rest of the range in the first reason why you should buy it.

1. THIS GOPRO IS ALL-IN-ONE (and that means saving money in accessories)
This camera has a built-in battery that you can't take from it in contrast to other GoPros who allow you to use more than one battery.
The battery lasts for two hours and a half so that means that if you're using it all that time without stopping, it will die. Fun tip: turn off the camera. Easy. It may not look like it lasts a lot, but it does. I think I have only charged it like twice.

It also has the waterproof case on so you can't take the camera off its housing but you can add different back doors such as the waterproof one and the skeleton one. The waterproof one is, well, waterproof. The other back door is the one you should use if you'd like to record outdoors, in dry surroundings. The sound quality will be better because it has two holes.

You'll save up money buying waterproof cases and extra batteries. This GoPro covers everything.

2. TAKES PICTURES AND RECORDS VIDEOS IN HD

Me, dad and my big brother trying for the uptenth time that day to take a selfie.

Sure thing, it may not be as good of a quality as the other GoPros, but nobody is perfect right?! Well, I think this GoPro is perfect for me. The pictures may look blurry but I guess the water wasn't at its best condition when those pictures were taken but I'm guessing you get the idea, don't you? These pictures are unedited. I'm literally posting them without making them smaller or editing their colours. This is how the pictures look once you take them.

3. USE IT AS A SECOND CAMERA - IT'S EASY TO CARRY!
When you travel or when you're out and about, use it as a second camera. I regret not having it with me when I was on Erasmus, but it's never too late to catch up. I plan to take it everywhere. It's quite small, unless you're using it with the stick - in that case is a bit bigger. But it really is easy to carry, so why not?

But Cristina, you may think, I'm sure this camera has a lot of cons too! And there are. I found two big cons to this camera that I'm not bothered with because I think that's the magic of this GoPro but I'll still state them:

1. NO WIFI
Other gopros have wifi and you can view your pictures on your phone and take pictures from a distance with the remote. This one doesn't.
Solution: Use time-lapse to take group pictures with the stick. Pose and then stop. You'll have like 15 pictures of yourself or your friends trying to pose and then the good one, but it's better than nothing.

2. YOU CAN'T SEE THE PICTURES YOU TAKE
You can't see the pictures unless you upload them to your computer. This model doesn't have a LCD screen although others allow you to buy one and they have recently released the GoPro Hero HD with LCD screen on the back!
Solution: Take your microSD from your GoPro and either 1) put it on an adapter and put it on a camera that will read the pictures or 2) put it on your mobile phone if it allows microSDs and enjoy!

See? There's a solution for everything! The reason why this GoPro is so cheap is because GoPro saved money in packaging and extra accessories by making it all-in-one with built-in battery. Additionally, they wanted a low priced GoPro to hit the markets for everyone else who did not want to spend a lot of money in a GoPro but still wanted one for any ludic activity. It's also very introductory for those who will want to buy a GoPro in the future.

To conclude: NO, I DID NOT THINK I'D BUY A GOPRO but YES, I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYBODY.

Do you own a GoPro?
