My 15 favourite feelings

I was on YouTube when I saw Charlie uploaded a new video. He's one of my favourite youtubers and probably the first one I subscribed to - along with PewDiePie. To be honest, I'm not quite sure who came first in my subscription box but you get the idea. Charlie recently uploaded a video about his favourite feelings in response to Hank Green's video and this gave me the idea for a blog post! It's also a nice way to reflect on my feelings, on the things that really warm my heart at the end of the day. So, in no particular order...

1. BEING LOVED BACK
Okay, I know I said this wasn't going to be in any particular order but, isn't this the greatest feeling? I'm not talking about being loved back romantically, but simply being loved back. When your friends show you the love you're giving them. Small gestures like "how was your day?" or "there, you can have the last piece of this fabulous cake." I don't know, it's so rewarding.

2. EATING YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD WHEN YOU'RE VERY HUNGRY
Mhmmm. Coming home from a long day in uni just to find out my mother has cooked her famous chicken recipe. Or my dad cooking my favourite Carbonara. I don't know, either way it's delicious and makes my stomach happy happy happy.

3. GETTING IN BED AFTER A LONG DAY
Charlie also mentioned this, but it's wonderful. You're tired, you've been out and about all day, you just want to get yourself a cuppa and snuggle in bed with your favourite blanket - if it's winter, of course. If it's Summer, then you just want the AC on and a thin cover on top of you. HEAVEN.

4. TUCKING YOURSELF IN THE DUVET WHEN IT'S COLD
Ultimately, when it's freezing cold, snuggling inside the duvet is wonderful. I wrap myself up like a burrito and don't move at all and it takes me a few seconds to probably fall asleep this way. Just perfect.

5. ACCOMPLISHING SOMETHING
Getting the grade you wanted after studying so hard, getting accepted in the university you wanted, getting the job you wanted or even just doing what you had planned to do today! Accomplishing something is great.

7. FRESH BEDDING AFTER YOUR SHOWER
That sounds a bit random. I remember I included it in my list of 15 things that make me happy. It's just so good! You feel fresh and clean and you get to bed in your fresh and clean sheets. It's perfect. It's meant to be.

8. A GOOD OL' CONVO
Sitting in a café, or in your room, or whatever, with someone you're comfortable with and sharing deep thoughts and having a good time talking. It's good. It feels like the world almost stopped for that moment. I like getting into deep conversations and losing track of time.

9. AN UNEXPECTED HUG
Unexpected hugs come when you less expect them, of course. And sometimes is when you need them the most. I like it when someone gives me an unexpected hug. Once, I got a hug from my favourite singer (John O'Callaghan from The Maine) and it was so good. I felt like crying afterwards, probably because of that moment. Anyway, I love unexpected and meaningful hugs.

10. WATCHING A FILM / READING A BOOK THAT LEAVES YOU SPEECHLESS
Even if that book or film makes you cry in the end, do you know that feeling? You just feel speechless. Like you have a void in your soul now. What do you do know? What's the meaning of life? I love watching a good film or reading a good book that makes me think. I love going back to it and thinking and thinking and thinking! It's a good feeling.

11. OVERCOMING (what seems to be) AN OBSTACLE IN YOUR LIFE
That could be related to accomplishing something, but this is totally different. Overcoming a problem. Becoming someone better by doing that. This is beautiful. There are no other words to describe this feeling. For example, one of the worst subjects I've ever had is Phonetics and I had to repeat it and when I passed it I felt so good. Phonetics seemed like an obstacle at that time. It felt great.

12. HAVING SOMEONE YOU RESPECT TELL YOU THEY RESPECT YOU
Amazeballs. Both Hank and Charlie reflected on this and I had to step back to realise this is genuinely one of the best feelings in the world. Going back to the 'unexpected hug' memory, the same singer did that to me. I told him - with my trembling voice - that I felt so inspired by his lyrics and his poetry and that he was an inspiration for me. When I was about to leave, he grabbed my hand and stopped me from leaving and said: 'Hey, you rock. Okay?' At that moment I felt so weird and (again) I wanted to cry. Later this year I found out that during that time, this singer had considered suicide. Mind-blowing. Thinking that probably those words impacted him at some point the way they impacted mine is also mind-blowing. I freaking love John O'Callaghan and I'm so glad I share this planet with a human like him.

13. WHEN SOMETHING JUST MAKES SENSE
As Hank, I also enjoy when you're watching a film or reading a book and its got all these mutltiple storylines and BAM. Everything unravels and it just makes sense. Or it could be simpler: when you figure out something and it just makes sense! Just when something makes sense. Doesn't the phrase 'making sense' sound weird now? Yeah... makes sense.

14. OPENING UP
When you're honest with yourself and others, when you decide to uncover some of your demons and show them to others and you're accepted - isn't that nice? Even if that brings you to tears in the end and it's something difficult to say, people appreciate it and you will eventually wonder why didn't you do that before.

15. DOING SOMETHING SCARY THAT TURNS OUT FANTASTICALLY WELL
Hank mentioned this and I couldn't agree more. Whether it's getting on a scary ride in a theme park or doing something VERY SCARY like moving out on your own or taking the first step to do something benefitial for yourself - it's rewarding to know that in the end, everything is going to be fine.

What are your favourite feelings?
